Today Jayla made pumpkin bread. She can read so she read the recipe, measured, broke eggs, mixed and poured. The room smelled delicious! Tomorrow we will eat her delicious bread for snack. Want to make this with your child? Find the recipe under For Parents... click on Recipes. Make it with your child and have a great time.

This week, we have an observer from the Montessori Training Center of New England. Observing in a Montessori classroom is one of the many requirements to become a Montessori teacher/guide.
Observing is an amazing experience. Parent conferences are coming up (November 15-18). I encourage you to arrange a date to observe your child during the next two weeks. It makes our conference a richer experience. We have had a busy week with lots of interest in writing and telling stories. Please check out the section called, Observing Your Child at Work under FOR PARENTS. You may see a picture of your child at work as an author. I also encourage you to make an appointment to come and observe your child live in the classroom. It is an amazing experience that you will never forget.
What a great time we had at Foster Farm on Saturday, October 15. The children enjoyed playing on the pirate ship, patting the alpacas and sheep and hurling pumpkins through the air to smash onto targets far, far away! Parents got to meet parents and exchange stories and information and to just have fun admiring the children together. It was just what we hope for... families getting together ...building community.
This week in Room 169 we will cut open the pumpkin we got at Foster Farm. We will spoon out the seeds, wash them, roast them and eat them. Then we will bake the pumpkin meat, mash it and make pumpkin bread. It all sounds a lot like the story of the Little Red Hen. |
